‘Waminda’ means place of friendship, and that’s just what you’ll find when you visit us.
Surrounded by Gubbi Gubbi and Ningy Ningy country, we are strongly connected to the local community and especially our local Indigenous Elders.
Some of our local community choose Waminda because they want the opportunity to celebrate and learn more about their culture; while others enjoy the fact that we are a culturally sensitive, all inclusive service that welcomes everyone, in all their wonderful diversity.
Whatever brings you to Waminda, you will enjoy a range of activities and outings alongside a caring, supportive team who go above and beyond to make sure you have a great day.
We love the outdoors, and we are always planning our next fishing trip or park outing. If you enjoy classic games, you can look forward to our regular trivia, board games and bingo. And our friendly dietician is a regular visitor.
We also play an active role in the Moreton Bay community. Waminda is often invited to attend school events, and we have supported our clients to provide valuable input to programs including an Aboriginal language unit. We work closely with the Arties program, which promotes school attendance amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. And Waminda clients also visit local kindergartens where our Elders share their stories and enjoy traditional activities with the children.
Our group transport service is available if you need assistance getting to Waminda and morning tea and lunch is provided each day.
