Why our people love what they do

At before school care, a child learns the gift of kindness and they begin their day feeling happy and calm. A seriously ill father of three feels a sense of peace following his bedside visit a volunteer hospital pastoral carer. A group of older people, many of whom live alone, gather at their local social and community hub for a meal and a game of cards.

On any given day, our people touch lives in all corners of our community and every year, in December, we come together to celebrate them. This year, special events were held in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast to recognise the contributions of 104 employees and volunteers who marked significant milestones in their journey with Centacare.

81 people, who work across aged care, community and pastoral care, mental health and disability care, Early EdCare and family and relationship care, celebrated 10 years of service. 11 people celebrated 20 years, nine celebrated 25 years and two people – 30 years!

We took the opportunity to chat with these very special people about what they love about working at Centacare and Catholic Early EdCare. Their reasons are many and varied but are held together by a shared and genuine calling to care. We hope you enjoy their reflections.
