Behaviour Support

Managing challenging behaviours and changing habits can be tricky. The good news is that new behaviours can be learned and we can help. We will visit you in your home (or wherever you feel most comfortable) to get to know you and what’s important to you. We’ll create a holistic behaviour support plan based on your personal strengths, environment, health and wellbeing needs, and the things you like. We’ll work with the people who are important to you and step out the tools, techniques and positive strategies needed to support you to move confidently toward your goals.

What to expect when you work with us

If it’s your first time working with a behaviour support service, it can be hard to know what to expect. While everyone’s support needs are different, our process and approach will always include some important steps.

  • One of our caring behaviour support practitioners will meet with you, your family or wider support network. We can meet at your home or another location – wherever you are most comfortable.
  • We’ll step you through each part of the process, answer any questions that you have and spend some time getting to know each other.
  • At your next meeting we’ll spend more time getting to know you, including your personal strengths, skills and abilities and your goals for the future. We’ll also gather information about your home environment and routine so we can start to understand and reduce what might be considered as triggers for your behaviour.
  • With your consent, we’ll talk to relevant medical and allied health professionals so we can understand how different diagnoses might impact you.
  • We’ll gather and record data before, during and after we provide support to help us identify patterns, measure progress and celebrate your achievements!
  • We’ll work collaboratively with you and your support network to develop a comprehensive behaviour support plan. Your plan will be include tools, techniques and positive strategies that are tailored to your individual needs. Strategies will also include support and training for your family or wider support network so they are equipped to support you in the way that works best for you.
  • We’ll always ask for your feedback on our suggested strategies – we want to make sure we are helping to create positive change in your life.
